Talks on Ukraine continue in Abu Dhabi

MINSK, 5 February (BelTA) - Talks on Ukraine continue in the Emirati capital of Abu Dhabi in a trilateral format, a source told TASS.

“A new meeting is taking place in a trilateral format,” the source said.

According to him, the talks address economic matters, the ceasefire mechanism and territorial issues.

In turn, Kirill Dmitriev the Russian president’s envoy, Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, when asked whether there is progress on a peace agreement with Ukraine, said that "warmongers” from Europe and Britain were "constantly trying to interfere with this process, constantly trying to meddle in it”. “And the more such attempts there are, the more we see that progress is definitely being made,” he told reporters ahead of the talks. “There is positive movement forward.”

According to the Ukrainian news agency UNN, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, also stated that the second day of a new round of negotiations involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia has begun in Abu Dhabi. “We are working in the same formats as yesterday: trilateral consultations, group work, and further synchronization of positions,” he noted.

The second round of the negotiations on Ukraine commenced in Abu Dhabi on 4 February. The previous trilateral meeting took place in Abu Dhabi on 23 and 24 January. While the parties described it as positive and constructive, details of the discussions were not disclosed.
