MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarus demonstrates a high level of diplomacy, Ruslan Grebnev, Deputy Dean for International Cooperation at the Faculty of Global Studies of Lomonosov Moscow State University, said on the sidelines of the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, BelTA has learned.
Russia and Belarus find common ground on many diplomatic issues, the expert noted. “The similarity of our strategies allows us to coordinate our actions in the international arena. This is thanks to the diplomacy, which Belarus demonstrates at a high level. It can be confidently said that Russian experts are praising what is happening in Belarus today,” Ruslan Grebnev said.
Speaking about the CSTO, he emphasized that it is a regional organization that regulates international relations within the post-Soviet space. “At the same time, it is important to consider the CSTO’s activities in relation to the CIS as a form of political coordination for a common international policy in our region. Nor should we forget about the rapidly developing institutions of Eurasian economic cooperation. If we look at the CSTO in the context of all regional political processes, it becomes clear that we still need a single institution to develop humanitarian cooperation,” the expert added.
In his view, the prospects for the regional system of regulating international relations in the post-Soviet space are linked to the need for greater integration between these international organizations. “They must complement each other rather than contradict. Since security issues are now at the forefront of the agenda, the role of the CSTO is acquiring particular importance,” Ruslan Grebnev stressed.
