MINSK, 16 August (BelTA) - Moscow has a sincere interest in ending the Ukrainian conflict, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a press conference following talks with U.S. President Donald Trump, TASS informs.

The Russian leader emphasized that his country seeks a long-term settlement in Ukraine. “Our nation genuinely wants to see this conflict end. However, we remain convinced that for any Ukrainian settlement to be sustainable and lasting, all root causes of the crisis, which we have repeatedly addressed, must be eliminated,” the Russian president said.

Vladimir Putin affirmed Moscow's readiness to help ensure Ukraine's security. “I agree with President Trump, who mentioned this today, that Ukraine's security must be guaranteed. Naturally, we are prepared to work on this,” the Russian leader stressed.
In his words, Russia hopes that Kiev would not attempt to obstruct potential progress in the settlement process. He also acknowledged that Moscow sees willingness from the Trump administration to facilitate resolution of the Ukrainian crisis.

The Russia-USA talks concluded in Anchorage, Alaska. Both presidents made statements to the press after their one-on-one meeting, though the briefing concluded without taking journalists' questions. The two leaders shook hands after their media appearances and departed together.
