PM: Belarus, Cuba absolutely understand, support each other at political level

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) – Belarus and Cuba absolutely understand and support each other at the political level, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on 17 July, BelTA has learned.

“Let me convey to you the warmest, fraternal regards and best wishes of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko. We believe that it was he who launched a new cycle of our trade and economic relations. Despite a very difficult period our country and the world were going through, your meeting with the president of Belarus gave a powerful impetus to the exchange of delegations at various levels, discussions and our joint economic projects,” said Roman Golovchenko.

“I completely agree that we are on board with each other and support each other at the political level. With a group of other like-minded countries that resolutely defend their sovereignty, we are jointly pushing back against unrelenting external pressure. I have even lost count of the sanctions that are imposed on Belarus every month, every few months. Therefore, we have banded together, found our internal strength, internal reserves, strengthened ties with our traditional partners, such as Cuba, and are following the path that our people have outlined,” said the Belarusian head of government.

The prime minister of Belarus recalled that last year alone he met with his counterpart, the prime minister of Cuba, twice. One of the meetings took place during Roman Golovchenko’s ongoing visit to Cuba. In addition, the Belarus-Cuba commission on trade and economic cooperation convened in Minsk a month ago.

“During the negotiations with the prime minister of Cuba, documents were signed to supply Belarusian medicines to Cuba and modern Cuban medicines to our country. We want Belarus to become a hub for promoting innovative Cuban pharmaceutical products to the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union countries,” Roman Golovchenko noted.
