MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Zimbabwe have made progress in bilateral cooperation, but it is important we move forward, Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa said during the talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Palace of Independence in Minsk on 14 May, BelTA has learned.
"The progress and growth we have seen in bilateral relations is gratifying. We have indeed made advances. Nevertheless there is a need to capitalize on these advances in order to move forward," the Zimbabwean leader said.
Emmerson Mnangagwa lauded Belarus' huge contribution to Zimbabwe's agricultural mechanization program and food security. “This is a huge step forward for us and we thank you for this,” he said. “We are ready to consider mechanization and modernization of our dairy industry with the support of Belarusian partners.""Zimbabwe is keen to make progress in cooperation in mechanical engineering because we will benefit immensely from it. At the same time, I believe the Belarusian economy can also benefit from this because it will gain a foothold in our region - Africa," the president added.
In his opinion, the parties also need to promote cooperation in education, technology and many other sectors.
