MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – A visit by Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama to Belarus is planned for June 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told journalists following his report to President Aleksandr Lukashenko on the outcomes of his visits to African countries on 9 March, BelTA has learned.

“As an important step toward developing our relations further, we have received an official response from the Ghanaian president expressing his readiness to pay a visit to Belarus. Dates have been confirmed. It will take place in June [2026],” the minister announced.
Discussing plans for developing cooperation with Ghana, Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that an agreement has been reached, financing has been secured, and an order has already been placed for the production of approximately 3,000 units of agricultural machinery in Belarus.

“Concrete agreements have been reached to increase supplies of powdered milk and meat. Until now, supplies of these product groups were insignificant, [amounting to] around $200,000-300,000. We expect that after the visit, supplies will increase manifold,” he added.

There are also plans to expand cooperation in education. Around 80 students from Ghana are currently studying in Belarus, and according to the minister, the Ghanaian side has expressed interest in increasing their numbers manifold, particularly in medical and agricultural fields. “In general, our scientific approach to structuring agricultural and technical processes in their country is very important to them,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.
