MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) - Belarus is poised to develop cooperation with Myanmar in areas such as education, industry, agriculture, tourism, and others, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told the media after the second session of the joint Belarus-Myanmar committee on trade and economic cooperation in Minsk on 2 October.
According to Maxim Ryzhenkov, the meeting resulted in an agreement to advance the implementation of a range of bilateral projects, primarily in trade and economy. The areas for cooperation are diverse, spanning agriculture, the pharmaceutical sector, healthcare, and education.
“The discussion also covered projects aimed directly at benefiting ordinary people, such as simplifying the visa regime between our countries and creating more favorable conditions for contacts between our nations' entrepreneurs and citizens,” the minister emphasized.
According to Maxim Ryzhenkov, Maynmar’s Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Wah Wah Maung, who is currently visiting Belarus, attended the events of the INNOPROM. “The first session of the joint working group on agricultural and food cooperation took place. We believe these efforts will help further develop collaboration in these fields,” the minister of foreign affairs said. “We also discussed other promising areas, including science, technology, culture, sports, and tourism. Myanmar values the quality of Belarusian education and hopes to see a further increase in the number of its students studying in Belarus, as well as an expansion in the range of academic specialties offered.”

Prior to the session of the joint committee on trade and economic cooperation, Maxim Ryzhenkov held a one-on-one meeting with Myanmar’s Union Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Wah Wah Maung. Addressing her, the minister of foreign affairs noted that a great number of representatives from various ministries and agencies of both Belarus and Myanmar have been recently working to advance relations between the two countries.
