MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) – For Belarus, Uzbekistan has become a “gateway” to Afghanistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said on the air of the Belarus One TV channel on 9 March, BelTA has learned.
“Uzbekistan is also our ‘gateway’ to Afghanistan. Especially now, when this state has complicated relations with Pakistan, and Iran is more occupied with its own issues. Today, this is the only serious ‘gateway.’ And we are entering Afghanistan through Uzbekistan,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said. “We receive all kinds of assistance from our Uzbek partners for joint projects and for using the territory of Uzbekistan to supply our products to Afghanistan. Our trade with Afghanistan exceeded $200 million last year.”
