MOSCOW, 8 December (BelTA) - The Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) adopted a statement on ensuring international security in a developing multipolar world at its meeting in Moscow on 8 December, BelTA has learned.

“The CSTO PA advocates strengthening cooperation in maintaining peace, reinforcing the system of international security and stability, and, in particular, countering international terrorism, extremism, and organized transnational crime, including drug trafficking, arms trafficking, and cybercrime,” the document states.

The statement emphasizes the special importance of shared approaches to building an architecture of equal and indivisible Eurasian security that is not directed against any countries or alliances. “We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to promoting good-neighborly relations and the peaceful coexistence of states, with due regard for each other’s national interests, and to jointly seeking political and diplomatic solutions to inter-state conflicts and disputes,” the document notes.

The CSTO PA also recalled the hardships of past world wars, which brought humanity irreparable losses, suffering, and destruction. “We note the danger of further escalation of international tensions, the use of forceful pressure, and other forms of interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states, which could provoke a confrontation of global scale,” the assembly stated.

The Belarusian delegation at the session was headed by Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko.
