CIS Border Guard Commanders Council analyzes situation at external borders

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – A regular session of the Border Guard Commanders Council was chaired by First Deputy Director, Head of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia Vladimir Kulishov on 28 October, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.

Delegations of nine border service agencies of the CIS member states, representatives of the coordinating service of the Border Guard Commanders Council, representatives of the CIS agencies the council interacts with (the CIS Executive Committee, the CIS Antiterrorism Center, the bureau for coordinating fight against organized crime and other dangerous kinds of crime in the territory of the CIS states), and representatives of the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization took part in the session.

Participants of the session analyzed the situation at external borders of the CIS states and the situation's development trends in 2022. Close attention was paid to Central Asia. Results of the council's work in 2021 were approved as well as the fulfillment of the CIS program on enhancing the border security at external borders in 2021-2025. Results of joint border operations and their organization were discussed as well.

Information interaction and ways to step it up, cooperation in research and education were discussed. Participants of the session also discussed personnel matters and the development of the veteran movement.

As many as 20 decisions were signed as a result of the session.

The next session of the Border Guard Commanders Council is scheduled to take place in Kazakhstan in H1 2022.
