MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – China and Belarus are all-weather and comprehensive strategic partners who unwaveringly support each other on issues affecting their core interests, a press representative of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus emphasized to BelTA.
The press representative stated: “The One China principle is enshrined in the agreement on establishing diplomatic relations between China and Belarus and has been repeatedly reaffirmed in joint statements by the heads of state. The government and people of Belarus have long steadfastly adhered to this principle, support all of China’s efforts to protect national unity, and resolutely oppose any form of so-called ‘Taiwan independence,’ which China highly values.”
“The Chinese side is ready to further strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Belarusian side and continue to firmly support each other on issues related to the key interests of both nations, such as sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity,” the press representative added.
Regarding recent developments, the embassy noted: “The United States recently announced large-scale arms sales to Taiwan, a region of China, totaling over $11.1 billion, which is a historic high. This action constitutes gross interference in China’s internal affairs, seriously violates the One China principle and the three China-U.S. joint communiqués, infringes on China’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity, violates strategic mutual trust, and undermines peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. China firmly opposes and strongly condemns this, and has lodged stern representations to the United States at the earliest opportunity. In accordance with the provisions of its Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law, China has decided to impose retaliatory measures against 20 U.S. military-related enterprises and 10 senior officials involved in arming Taiwan in recent years.”
The spokesperson emphasized: “The Taiwan question is the foremost priority for China, constituting a non-negotiable red line. China will take all necessary measures to protect its national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Any provocative actions that cross the line on the Taiwan question will be met with a decisive response from China. Any companies or individuals involved in arms sales to Taiwan will pay for their actions. No country or force should underestimate the firm resolve, unwavering will, and powerful capabilities of the Chinese government and people in upholding national sovereignty and territorial integrity. No matter how many modern weapons are sold to Taiwan, they will in no way curb the historical trend toward the inevitable and imminent reunification of China.”
