MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov will take part in the 32nd Annual Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly that will be held in Porto, Portugal, on 29-30 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
The Belarusian delegation includes Oleg Rummo, member of the Standing Committee for Foreign Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic.
The session will be held under the theme “Commemorating 50 Years of the Helsinki Final Act: Responding to a New Reality in the OSCE.” The event will focus on the adoption of effective legal measures by member states to enhance international cooperation for maintaining peace and security within the OSCE region.
The program of the event will include the meetings of the OSCE PA Standing Committee and three general committees (General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology and Environment, and General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions), as well as plenary sessions.
Sergei Rachkov is expected to deliver speeches at the meetings, take part in debates, and hold talks with a number of parliamentarians and officials of the OSCE PA.
The Annual Session will culminate in the adoption of the Porto Declaration, containing recommendations to national governments, parliaments and the international community in the fields of security, human rights, and economic and environmental concerns. The Assembly will also elect its leadership for the coming year, including a new President.
