Belarusian foreign minister talks about Lukashenko’s upcoming foreign visits

MINSK, 9 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is expected to go on a number of foreign visits in the near future. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov made the relevant statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.

The reporters were told that a visit to Algeria will be one of the upcoming business trips of the Belarusian leader. Maxim Ryzhenkov remarked that Algeria is a steadily developing African economy and Belarus and Algeria have a lot of contact points.

“This is why we and the Algerian authorities are interested in cooperation,” the minister said. “Moreover, Algeria is a state that pursues an independent, autonomous policy while bearing in mind national interests and in order to serve the interests of its nation. It brings us closer to each other and gives reasons to believe that the agreements will be the same.”

According to Maxim Ryzhenkov, the Belarus president’s visit to Algeria will become part of a large itinerary. For instance, the head of state also intends to visit Bishkek where he will take part in a summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
