MINSK, 9 March (BelTA) - Over the years of sanctions, Belarus has ensured its technological security, while the European Union has simply exchanged one dependency for another, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov said on the air of the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Maxim Ryzhenkov noted that over the past six years, while under European sanctions, Belarus has reoriented nearly all of its core trade.
“We haven’t lost anything in terms of exports. Growth continues. We’ve ensured our technological security and stopped depending on the European Union. But instead of one dependency on energy resources, on cheaper but high-quality products from Belarus, the EU has fallen into completely different dependencies, namely on the United States. We see serious problems in economic and social development in our neighboring Baltic states, which are simply fading away. This is already visible to the naked eye,” the minister stated.
