MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Another update of the EU sanctions package against Belarus, adopted in February 2025, demonstrates a clear inability of the European neighbors to take into account the realities and act in the spirit of the times for the sake of peace and stability in the region, reads the commentary by the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the European Union, BelTA learned.
“The stubborn adherence by the European side to the previous narratives of political and sanctions pressure on the sovereign states that implement independent policies increasingly distances the EU leaders from the interests and expectations of their own citizens,” the commentary said. “The EU's inertia in using the outdated methods of interaction with other members of the world community from the position of superiority risks undermining the political unity and economic well-being of the European Union member states and becoming a serious obstacle to establishing a stable and long-lasting peace in our common region.”
Belarus remains interested in resuming an equal dialogue with the EU and expresses the hope that the shortsighted pursuit by Western politicians to “save face” will not become an insurmountable obstacle for Europe and it will be able to adjust its policies to the rapidly emerging realities of a fair multipolar world,” the commentary said.
