Belarus, Türkiye agree to develop inter-party contacts

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - Belarusian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Türkiye Anatoly Glaz met with Chairman of one of Türkiye’s oldest parties Vatan (Patriotic Party) Doğu Perinçek, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Ankara. 

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on current issues of the regional and international agenda, including developments in Eurasia, the Middle East, and the Eastern Mediterranean. Certain aspects of the evolving regional security situation were also discussed.

The parties discussed the scope of Belarusian-Turkish cooperation within the context of modern geopolitical realities, noted the importance of political dialogue and expert contacts for forming objective approaches to international issues, and advocated for deepening cooperation between the two countries.

Doğu Perinçek highly appraised Belarus’ balanced and peace-loving policy, particularly emphasized the role of President Aleksandr Lukashenko in ensuring regional stability, and positively noted his steady course for developing his country. Mutual interest was confirmed in the further development of political and inter-party contacts between Belarus and Türkiye.

The Vatan (Patriotic) party traces its origins to the Workers’ Party of Türkiye and a number of preceding political structures that emerged from the Turkish National Liberation Movement of 1918-1923. Today, it has several tens of thousands of members, with primary organizations active in all regions of Türkiye.
