MOSCOW, 4 April (BelTA) – The delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State will take part in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and related meetings to be held in Tashkent, the Republic of Uzbekistan, on 5-9 April, the press service of the assembly told BelTA.
The delegation will be led by Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairman of the Commission on International Affairs, Migration Policy and Relations with Compatriots of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly Sergei Rachkov.
“Delegates are set to exchange views on a wide range of issues related to parliaments' contribution to social development and justice, as well as to work on the resolution “Parliamentary strategies to mitigate the long-lasting impact of conflicts, including armed conflicts, on sustainable development”. Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly will take part in the meetings of the IPU Governing Council, the Standing Committee on Peace and International Security, the Standing Committee on Sustainable Development and other events,” the press service noted.
Founded in 1889, the IPU is one of the most authoritative international organizations having 181 members. The Parliamentary Assembly has had permanent observer status with the IPU since April 2001.
