Belarus presents projects at UNESCO meeting in Samarkand

MINSK, 29 October (BelTA) – Belarus participated in the 12th Interregional Meeting of National Commissions for UNESCO held in Samarkand as part of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues, including the development of youth policy, the interconnection of cultures and communities in the digital age, strengthening cooperation between states, civil society and the private sector, as well as matters of sustainable development and inclusivity.

Secretary-General of the National Commission of the Republic of Belarus for UNESCO Natalya Schasnovich emphasized the importance of constructive interaction between national commissions and joint initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of UNESCO’s work. She also noted that Belarus co-authored the resolution “Enhancing cooperation with and between National Commissions for UNESCO.”

In her remarks, she paid particular attention to the participation of young people in the global agenda. Natalya Schasnovich presented successful Belarusian projects, including the Institute of the Sustainable Development Goals Youth Ambassadors and the Youth Parliament, as well as the effective experience of the Belarusian National Commission for UNESCO in working with associated schools, UNESCO chairs, and clubs. The Belarusian representative expressed readiness to share the experience accumulated over nearly 70 years of the commission’s activity and to study best practices from other countries within UNESCO.
