MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted a ceremony to sign a visa waiver agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines for holders of diplomatic and service passports, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The document was signed by Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Belarus with residence in Moscow Igor Garlit Bailen.
“The conclusion of the agreement is an important practical result of the joint work of the foreign ministries of the two countries and testifies to the intensified dialogue between Belarus and the Philippines. The draft agreement was initialed in October 2024 in Manila during the first round of ministerial consultations,” the ministry said.
The parties continue negotiations to simplify visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports in order to create the most favorable conditions for the development of bilateral contacts in political, business and tourism sectors.
According to the ministry, the Philippines is one of the key countries of the far arc for Belarus. The Philippines is also a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the development of cooperation with which is of high importance in the economic sector.
“Recognizing the significant potential for expanding cooperation in trade, Minsk and Manila are discussing opportunities to increase bilateral trade both at the governmental level and through contacts of business associations of the two countries,” the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

The minister and the ambassador also discussed issues of further intensification of Belarusian-Philippine cooperation. The parties discussed the preparation of upcoming contacts and plans to organize joint events, exchanged views on topical issues of the global and regional agendas.
