MINSK, 13 October (BelTA) – Belarus has welcomed with great satisfaction the implementation of agreements on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the launch of the first phase of the peace plan, and the beginning of the hostage release process, spokesperson for the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ruslan Varankov said when asked about the ministry's assessment of the latest developments in Gaza, BelTA has learned.
“We highly appreciate the efforts of all parties involved in this challenging negotiation process,” he stressed. “Our traditional and consistent position remains unchanged: we advocate the resolution of international conflicts exclusively through peaceful and diplomatic means, in strict accordance with the UN Charter. For us, any steps aimed at ending the suffering of civilians and ensuring unhindered access to humanitarian aid are of paramount importance.”
Ruslan Varankov expressed hope that the current ceasefire would serve as a solid foundation for the establishment of a lasting and just peace.
“We are convinced that a long‑term settlement of the Palestine-Israel conflict is possible only on the basis of a two‑state solution,” he emphasized.
“Belarus, which as a UN member and co‑founder recognized the independence of the State of Palestine in 1988, consistently proceeds from the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to determine their own future,” Ruslan Varankov concluded.
