Belarus’ FM questions Lithuania’s motives for border drone incidents

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) - Lithuania is using border provocations as a pretext to seek EU funding to counter what it calls “hybrid aggression”, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov told Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“They have a good teacher - Poland. To play games with provocations at the border in order to later shake some appeals in Europe and ask for money. Information has already emerged that the EU is considering something over 6 billion [euros] to help Lithuania allegedly fight hybrid aggression from Belarus and Russia. That’s the whole point of this,” Maxim Ryzhenkov said.

He noted that these funds will not go towards infrastructure or social projects. The money will be allocated for useless concrete barriers, useless weaponry that Lithuanian servicemen don’t even know how to use.

“This absolutely does not compensate the peoples of the countries bordering us for the losses they incur due to the limited cooperation with Belarus and Russia,” the minister of foreign affairs said.
