Over the past week, Lithuania has shut down traffic across the border with Belarus three times at both road border checkpoints. The latest traffic suspension at the Medininkai and Šalčininkai checkpoints occurred last night for 3.5 hours (from 23:00 to 02:30).
On 22 October, the Belarusian-Lithuanian border was closed by the Lithuanian side for 6 hours, and on 25 October - from midnight until noon.

“Each time, the Lithuanian authorities did this without warning, creating hopeless situations for drivers of passenger cars who were at the border checkpoints when they were closed. People were left in a state of uncertainty about how to proceed. For truck drivers, the temporary closures are not felt as critically, given that the Lithuanians are already working ten times slower than their capacity allows. However, having to wait an additional day to enter Lithuania on top of several days of queuing should not become the norm,” the State Customs Committee noted.
The State Customs Committee will continue to monitor the situation on the Belarusian-Lithuanian border.
