Belarus CEC to observe referendum in Kazakhstan

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) - The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus is set to take part in the observation of the 2024 referendum in Kazakhstan, CEC Chairman Igor Karpenko told the media on 18 September, BelTA has learned.

According to him, the CEC of Belarus interacts with colleagues in the CIS both bilaterally and within observation missions. “We regularly travel to these countries and observe the elections,” Igor Karpenko said.

“Over the past few years we have visited a number of our colleagues both in the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan. Kazakhstan is currently getting ready for a referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant. We have received an invitation to take part in it as an observer. Uzbekistan is set to hold parliamentary elections. We have recently observed the extraordinary parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan,” Igor Karpenko added.
