MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Developing cooperation with Belarus is important for Ethiopia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Belarus (non‑resident) Genet Teshome Jirru told reporters ahead of the ceremony to present his credentials to Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Palace of Independence on 11 September, BelTA has learned.
“Our relations with Belarus are very important and highly promising. There are many areas of mutual interest that can be explored to further our contacts,” he emphasized.
“We look forward to cooperation with Belarus in modernizing the agricultural sector – this is one of the key areas for our future work,” the diplomat stressed.
Special attention on the bilateral agenda will be given to the implementation of agreements, including projects in the mechanization of Ethiopia’s agricultural sector, reached during the visit of Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Gedion Timothewos to Belarus in July 2025.
