Dubai ranks second globally as culinary capital

MOSCOW, 14 April (BelTA - TV BRICS) - Dubai has solidified its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing gastronomic destinations, issuing 1,200 new restaurant licences in 2024, according to the third annual Gastronomy Industry Report released by Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.

The expansion reflects the emirate’s continued rise as a global capital of cuisine and its commitment to offering an unmatched diversity of dining experiences, as reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS.

The report credits digital platforms and social media with significantly amplifying awareness and interest in Dubai’s culinary scene. 70 per cent of diners in the UAE consult social media for recommendations before selecting a restaurant, with user-generated reviews playing a growing role in influencing daily and special occasion dining choices.

Cleanliness emerged as the top factor influencing restaurant selection, with 50 per cent of survey respondents prioritising hygiene, followed by cuisine type (49 per cent), ambience (43 per cent), service quality (42 per cent), and value for money (38 per cent).

Google data indicated over 741,000 online searches related to Dubai’s food and beverage offerings during the first seven months of 2024, an increase of 23.5 per cent compared to the same period in 2023.
