MINSK, 16 February (BelTA) - A festive concert dedicated to the Chinese New Year - the Spring Festival was held at the Palace of Culture of Trade Unions in Minsk on 13 February, BelTA has learned.

The interactive areas set up by a delegation from Beijing showcased national cultural heritage, including caramel drawing, Beijing opera mask painting, and cloisonné (artistic enamelware). In addition, there was an exhibition of design models dedicated to the Year of the Horse and also interactive workshops with the participation of the Confucius Institutes of Belarusian National Technical University and Belarusian State University of Physical Culture.




The event was organized by the Culture Ministry of Belarus, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Belarus. The performers were from the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and the Chinese Cultural Center in Minsk.




The concert line-up included the Heyun dance company from the Beijing Dance Academy; the Qinglan Orchestra; the Shaohua Circus Art Group; and the Long Yun Martial Arts Troupe of the Cheng Jiaban Team from the Jackie Chan School. The program was very diverse featuring dance, instrumental music, acrobatics, and martial arts reflecting both traditional Chinese culture and its contemporary dynamics.




The famous Belarusian State Academic Honored Choreographic comapny Khoroshki was also featured in the concert.
The Spring Festival, as the most important traditional holiday of the Chinese nation, is included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Events dedicated to this Chinese New Year holiday have been held in Belarus for more than ten years.
