MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – OAO Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill has made the first batch of viscose cellulose, the press service of the Belarusian timber, woodworking, pulp and paper industry concern Bellesbumprom told BelTA.
According to the source, Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill is getting ready for the commercial production of viscose cellulose. The first batch of this absolutely unique for Belarus product was made on 16 December.
Following the commercial production launch procedure, the plant is getting ready for 72 hours of trial operation. During this stage all the technological processes will be polished as the equipment handles the necessary workload. The work of automated systems will be tuned. The expected parameters of the final product will be assured.
Just like bleached sulfated pulp viscose cellulose is made of coniferous wood but several technological processes differ. There is a steady demand for viscose cellulose on world markets. Viscose cellulose is used to make viscose fiber, which accounts for nearly 80% of the world's output of all artificial fibers. The sphere of applications is rather large. Prices for viscose cellulose are traditionally higher than prices for sulfated pulp. It means that this product will give Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill an additional opportunity to increase revenues from manufacturing.
Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill was founded in 1968 as an enterprise designed to process imported paper and pasteboard. At present the public joint-stock company (OAO) Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Mill uses a complete work cycle to process timber into corrugated pasteboard and boxes made of it. The company comprises several manufacturing divisions.
