MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Many goods in Belarus are cheaper than in Russia, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said during a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic in Minsk on 22 October, BelTA has learned.
“In 2023, we cut inflation to a single-digit value of 6% and keep it at this level. Inflation in Belarus is lower than in Russia and Kazakhstan. Prices for many goods in Belarus are lower than in Russia. For example, in 2024 apples are 64% cheaper on average than in Russia, other staples are also cheaper, like cucumbers (57%), milk (37%), pork (12%),” said Nikolai Snopkov.
As far as living standards are concerned, the Belarusian government is guided by the triad ‘prices, wages, housing’. These are the areas that receive priority attention.
