MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) - Ulyanovsk Oblast of Russia and Belarus are actively cooperating in radioelectronics, automotive manufacturing, and aerospace, Governor of Russia's Ulyanovsk Oblast Alexei Russkikh said following the eighth meeting of the working group on cooperation between Belarus and Russia’s Ulyanovsk Oblast on 1 October, BelTA has learned.
“I am confident that the INNOPROM. Belarus exhibition will give a new impetus to the development of our relations. We have outlined a number of new points of contact. Given the constant evolution of technologies and new developments, a foundation for new cooperation is emerging. We are actively working in radioelectronics, automotive manufacturing, and aerospace,” Alexei Russkikh said.
According to him, an agreement on developing cooperation in aerospace was signed on the sidelines of the exhibition. Furthermore, Minsk Civil Aviation Plant No.407, the 558th Aviation Repair Plant, and the Orsha Aircraft Repair Plant are already assisting in the production of IL-76 and MC-21 aircraft. With their production output on the rise, the required volume of parts has increased considerably. In this context, the Belarusian aircraft repair enterprises are providing substantial support to Ulyanovsk Oblast.

“Our relations with Minsk, Minsk Oblast, and Belarus in general are developing very dynamically. We are seeing excellent growth rates in our trade - up 25-30% every year. This growth is, of course, colossal. Almost every point we agree upon in our working groups is being fulfilled 100%, and often exceeded,” Alexei Russkikh emphasized.
In his words, the INTEGRAL company has built a significant trade with Ulyanovsk Oblast from scratch over three years. Further avenues for cooperation have already been identified, particularly considering the upcoming launch of production for engine electronic control units in Ulyanovsk Oblast. The component base, including those produced by INTEGRAL, will be in demand there. Cooperation is also continuing in unmanned systems, primarily, unmanned aerial vehicles. A corresponding supplementary agreement has been signed.
Furthermore, ties in cultural and humanitarian sectors are developing. Delegation exchanges, including youth exchanges, are taking place. Just recently, gifted children from Ulyanovsk Oblast visited the Brest Fortress and Minsk. “In short, we are working across all areas. I am confident our working group will give our collaboration additional momentum. Only together can we lay the foundation for the further dynamic development of our states,” said Alexei Russkikh.

Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev added that significant work has already been done, ensuring positive momentum in cooperation across all sectors. To continue this, today they discussed issues related to industry (including aerospace and microelectronics), agriculture, transport, and logistics. He also emphasized the importance of air service between the regions, as its development would boost business and facilitate meetings and negotiations.

An agreement was signed during the meeting between the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus and Ulyanovsk Oblast on fostering international ties in education and humanitarian fields.

“Today we can confidently say that new, mutually beneficial areas are emerging. We will work to continue what we have started and maintain this positive momentum,” Vladimir Kukharev concluded.
