
MINSK, 30 September (BelTA) – Russia’s Smolensk Oblast plans to continue purchasing passenger vehicles from Belarus, Smolensk Oblast Governor Vasily Anokhin said at a meeting with Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi on the sidelines of the INNOPROM.Belarus international industrial expo, BelTA has learned.
“The trolleybus procurement tender is in its final phase. If all goes well, we will not limit ourselves to this batch. We will continue with similar purchases to establish a complete fleet of MAZpublic transport vehicles. This is a logical move, as we have bought this machinery in the past,” Vasily Anokhin said.
Another area of interaction is the participation of Belarusian specialists in road maintenance programs in Smolensk Oblast and a project to build a new highway.
The governor pointed out the positive dynamics of trade, which increased by more than $300 million in H1 2025. The share of Smolensk Oblast’s trade with Belarus has exceeded 70%.
Vasily Anokhin thanked Dmitry Krutoi for his personal involvement and assistance in the implementation of joint projects in Smolensk Oblast. “Your entire team is working very hard, and everyone understands the common tasks,” the Smolensk Oblast governor noted.
Dmitry Krutoi noted that the cooperation with Belarus has multiplied since the new administration took office in the region.
