Real household income in Belarus up by over 23% over five years

MINSK, 17 December (BelTA) – Real household disposable income of Belarusians has increased by more than 23% over the past five years, Belarus’ Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said in an interview with the First News TV Channel, BelTA has learned.

“When preparing the program for 2026-2030, we looked at how the country developed over the previous five-year period and how well we fulfilled the tasks set out in the 2021-2025 program. First of all, we should note significant qualitative changes and the fulfillment of our commitments. This primarily concerns comfortable living conditions for our people. Real household income has grown by over 23%, and this is a very important factor,” Yuri Chebotar said.

Although rental housing is a priority for the next five-year period, strong results were also achieved in the current one. As for overall housing construction, 21.7 million square meters were built over five years. “In terms of square meters per capita, we are among the leaders in the CIS,” the minister noted.

Significant attention was given to healthcare and education. “Over four years, we have renovated more than 75 hospital buildings, opened more than 20 outpatient clinics, and renovated or built 55 kindergartens and 66 schools. All this is aimed at ensuring that people feel comfortable living anywhere in the country, no worse than in the capital,” the minister emphasized.

“In terms of investment policy, we have completed many of the country’s most important commercial projects, including the Belarusian NPP, several new factories and the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC). We are seeing a substantial effect from the continued development of our own passenger car industry, with localization issues being addressed. Overall, more than 700 projects were implemented over the five-year period,” Yuri Chebotar concluded.
