PM comments on Belarus-Kyrgyzstan successful joint projects

ALMATY, 30 January (BelTA) - Kyrgyzstan and Belarus are implementing successful joint projects, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during a meeting with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Adylbek Kasymaliev in Almaty, BelTA learned.

"Our joint project in elevator equipment is picking up steam. We have a joint venture in Kyrgyzstan, which successfully fulfills its tasks. Taking into account the great need of Kyrgyzstan in replacement and renewal of elevators , we expect that this enterprise will receive more orders, especially as the level of localization is quite high. We are committed to developing it in the future, using mostly the components and assemblies produced in your country. Moreover, this enterprise is also implementing a project to build a rotary parking lot. I am sure that it will be in great demand among the residents of Kyrgyzstan's capital," Roman Golovchenko said.

Another important topic of discussion was cooperation in environment, waste management and recycling of secondary materials. "In August 2024, a waste treatment plant was launched in the town of Karakol. It was built by a Belarusian enterprise on a turnkey basis. This will help meet high environmental standards and obtain valuable secondary materials to produce new demanded types of goods," the prime minister stated.

Roman Golovchenko recalled the speech of Kyrgyzstan's president at the world government summit in Dubai last year, where he outlined key areas for the development of the country's new economic policy. These are energy, mining and transportation and logistics. "You are implementing significant projects, including the construction of a new hydroelectric power plant, the development of new fields, and two major railway projects. We are happy to note that Kyrgyzstan is developing very rapidly. I would like to emphasize that Belarus also has great competencies both in designing and in providing services for the construction of such facilities, including engineering, supply of appropriate equipment, and start-up and adjustment works. Therefore, we are ready to provide any assistance in this matter, if necessary," he emphasized.

The prime minister also spoke about effective export financing instruments. In November 2024, the development banks of Belarus and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement to provide export loans. "Belarus has a very favorable financial mechanism to facilitate such supplies. We offer a rather favorable interest rate and good terms for payment. Relevant agreements have been concluded with the banks of Kyrgyzstan to provide export financing and export credits if there is interest in the purchase of Belarusian construction, road construction, utility, transportation and other equipment," Roman Golovchenko stressed.

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko is in Almaty, Kazakhstan on a working visit on 30-31 January to to attend a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
