MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Kazakhstan need to give momentum to bilateral trade, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said during his talks with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov of Kazakhstan in Minsk on 14 November, BelTA has learned.
"Since becoming independent, Belarus and Kazakhstan have gone a long way towards strengthening of good relations. We have built strong friendly ties and partnership. The leaders of our countries enjoy warm and trusting relations. The countries effectively cooperate within the integration associations and international organizations. We are important trade partners for each other. A few years ago, we surpassed a $1 billion mark in mutual trade. We maintain close trade and economic, but also cultural and humanitarian cooperation at the level of industries, regions, enterprises and organizations. We also develop our cooperation in science, education, sports, tourism. In fact, there are no areas left in which we do not cooperate. This is also a significant achievement," Roman Golovchenko said.
Trade and economic cooperation is the most important element of Belarus-Kazakhstan relations. "This area requires constant attention and coordination of the governments, including within the framework of the intergovernmental commission headed by first deputy prime ministers of our countries. Under the auspices of the intergovernmental commission, we have worked out a roadmap for the development of trade and economic cooperation for 2025-2029. Over the five-year period we will work together to ensure the implementation of this important document," the prime minister stressed.
