
MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – Over 9 million tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, has been threshed in Belarus so far, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 29 September, some 9,028,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus.
Belarus has harvested 99% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops (maize not taken into account), which makes up 2,410,000 hectares. Average grain yield is 8.1 centners per hectare higher than last year’s. Some 675,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 97% of the target.
Winter grains for grain have been sown across 1,069,000 hectares, 71% of the plan.
The harvest yielded 131,000 tonnes of flax straw, with an average yield that is 11.5 centners per hectare higher than last year.
Some 533,000 tonnes of hay (74% of the plan) and 13.626 million tonnes of haylage (98% of the plan) have been prepared so far. Forage production has reached 6.779 million tonnes (67% of the target).
Sugar beet has been harvested from 36% of the area, which amounts to 38,000 hectares. The harvest has yielded 1,830,000 tonnes of sugar beet with an average yield being 30.2 centners per hectare higher than last year’s figure.
Some 401,000 tonnes of potatoes have already been harvested, with the average yield being 4.8 centners per hectare above last year’s figure.
Across the country, 72,000 tonnes of open-field vegetables have been harvested from a total sown area exceeding 8,000 hectares. The current harvest represents 47% of the total cultivated area.
