MINSK, 29 August (BelTA) – Nearly 8.5 million tonnes of grain has been threshed in Belarus so far, the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.
“Based on the current data, as of 29 August, some 8,499,000 tonnes of grain, including rapeseed, were cropped in Belarus,” the press service informed.
The regional breakdown is the following: Minsk Oblast harvested 2.150 million tonnes, Grodno Oblast – 1.695 million tonnes, Brest Oblast – 1.667 million tonnes, Mogilev Oblast – 1.153 million tonnes, Gomel Oblast – 1.012 million tonnes, Vitebsk Oblast – 822,000 tonnes.
Belarus has harvested 92% of areas planted to grain and leguminous crops (maize not taken into account), which makes up 2,231,000 hectares.
Average grain yield is 8.5 centners per hectare higher than last year’s level.
Some 606,000 tonnes of food grain have been delivered under the state procurement program, representing 87% of the target.
Winter rapeseed for grain has been sown across 445,000 hectares, up by 3% of the plan.
Flax has been pulled from 44,000 hectares, accounting for 93% of the planned area.
Some 398,000 tonnes of hay (55% of the plan) and 12.530 million tonnes of haylage (90% of the plan) have been prepared so far, including 410,000 tonnes stored in polymer packaging.
Forage production has reached 3.898 million tonnes (39% of the target).
