MTS, Huawei to expand cooperation in cloud technologies, IoT

MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian mobile carrier Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) and the Huawei company agreed to expand cooperation in cloud technologies and the Internet of things during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, BelTA has learned.

According to MTS General Director Vladimir Karpovich, Huawei is a strategic partner and the talks at the prestigious international congress in Barcelona are essential in terms of outlining the prospects of cooperation. “We have agreed on the new avenues of further cooperation that are based on cloud technologies and the Internet of things concept, he Vladimir Karpovich clarified. To my mind, Huawei's decisions are very balanced and the work of their stand at the expo proves that. Besides, our close partner Bel Huawei Technologies also takes part in the event,” Vladimir Karpovich said.

MTS' major interest is innovations, the general director noted. “This is why we attend the Mobile World Congress every year to find creative solutions and sign promising agreements that will help us develop and enhance Belarus' telecom market and provide our clients with better services,” Vladimir Karpovich underlined. “We visit stands of other mobile carriers, SKTelecom, NTTdocomo, T-Mobile and Vodafone in the first place. Every year these companies show how to transfer brand new technologies into specific customer services.

According to Vladimir Karpovich, the participants of the expo conducted dozens of talks which helped them share the experience and speak about their opportunities and plans. “We encourage our foreign colleagues to provide us with interesting solutions. That is how we look for partners interested in branching out into the Belarusian market. As the expo's guests we can easily learn about its work, negotiate and network. We do not waste our time expecting for someone to find us,” the general director said.

Vladimir Karpovich also pointed out that participation in such forums can result in various fruitful ideas. “For instance, one of the scheduled meeting can result in a new strategic project in our country,” the MTS general director said. “We are also keen to learn our colleagues' experience in BigData, network solutions aimed to improve communication quality and particular prospects of the Internet of things - from road traffic safety to smart toothbrushes. We definitely pay attention not only to innovative ideas but also to the particular technologies that can help enhance current products and services. We are actively working in mobile commerce, personal data security and implementation of digital signatures. We are interested in the WTTX service which even now can provide Belarusian cottages and summer houses with the high-quality internet. It is important to see how the ideas are transferring into specific services that facilitate our lives,” Vladimir Karpovich said.

Mobile World Congress 2017 is running in Barcelona on 27 February-2 March. It offers promising possibilities such as boosting foreign links and brand promotion. MWC is the biggest international event in the telecom industry, featuring more than 2,000 companies from throughout the world. They present brand-new products and technologies that will define the future of the telecom industry.
