MINSK, 9 December (BelTA) – The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee has discussed areas of cooperation with the Chinese province of Shandong, BelTA learned from the committee’s press service.
The main topic of the meeting between the Chinese delegation led by Shandong Province Vice Governor Zhou Liwei and the leadership of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee was the identification of ways to further cooperation, given the previously signed memorandum of cooperation. Welcoming the guests, Minsk Oblast Deputy Governor Denis Kurlenko noted that both countries still have a lot to offer each other.
"A number of joint projects with China are being implemented in Minsk Oblast, the largest and most famous are BelGee and the Great Stone Industrial Park. There are many points of contact in culture, education, and sports. I am sure that our cooperation will contribute to the development of the regions," Denis Kurlenko emphasized.
During the meeting, the parties touched upon iincreasing trade, technology exchange in mechanical engineering and agriculture, and deepening friendly contacts in culture, sports, and tourism.
Shandong is one of the richest provinces in China and the country's largest agricultural region. Trade between Shandong and Minsk Oblast exceeds $300 million.
