MINSK, 14 April (BelTA) – Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev told the media what issues were discussed during his meeting with the president of Belarus on 14 April, BelTA has learned.
On Monday Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev to receive his report. According to the mayor, a lot of issues related to the development of the city and urban infrastructure were discussed.

“The key issue was the economy of the city of Minsk, its further expansion, and efforts to enter new markets. This area is of high importance, because the economy is the foundation of the region's development. Today we can confidently say that we keep the previous year’s pace. I think the work in this area will be continued,” Vladimir Kukharev told journalists.
According to the Minsk mayor, the discussion also touched upon area landscaping activities. The president instructed to study every district and neighborhood. All dilapidated buildings and vacant lands should be checked.
“An action plan has been developed and the president has been informed about it. All measures have been taken to implement it,” he emphasized.
Construction prospects in Minsk were discussed as well. According to Vladimir Kukharev, there is practically no free space for new construction projects in the Belarusian capital: “There are however social obligations: housing for large families, social housing, housing for those on the waiting list.” With this in mind, the Zeleny Bor neighborhood project will be implemented on the instructions of the head of state.
The Minsk mayor also briefed the president on the work done to develop parking space in the Belarusian capital. A relevant regulatory document has been prepared, which has been agreed upon by the president and will be submitted for consideration in the near future.
“The president has been informed about the fulfillment of his instruction to check bridges and overpasses in Minsk. 22 overpasses have been repaired over the past four years. Five more are being repaired this year. 12 more will be completely reconstructed within three years. Thus, all the bridges will be brought into proper condition,” Vladimir Kukharev said.
The head of state was also briefed on the fulfillment of his instructions related to the development of technoparks. During his visit to MotoVelo Plant, the president instructed to implement three more projects to set up new technoparks. “Work is already underway at one of the sites on Tsentralnaya Street. The second site is being designed also on Tsentralnaya Street. The third site is being worked out together with Minsk Oblast Executive Committee. This is the area within the meat processing plant on Kazinets Street. These projects will be implemented in the near future to become a platform for business representatives to introduce new technologies and develop innovative areas,” Vladimir Kukharev said.
