Minister: Agreement with China will boost Belarus’ services exports

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) - The agreement with China will facilitate Belarus’ services exports, Belarusian Economy Minister Yuri Chebotar said as he presented the bill on ratification of the agreement between the governments of Belarus and China on trade in services and investment in the House of Representatives, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

According to Yuri Chebotar, China is consistently among the top 5 partners of Belarus in terms of trade in services. In January-October 2024, this indicator increased by one third. The adoption of the agreement will help strengthen the strategic partnership in this area.

“According to expert estimates, the agreement will help increase Belarus’ services export to China by 12-15%. Chinese investments in Belarus are estimated to increase by 30% in the medium term. I would like to emphasize that our country will enjoy the same conditions of access to the Chinese market as its closest partners in Southeast Asia. Thus, we get competitive advantages in the Chinese market compared to most countries of the world,” the minister said.

The parties have made commitments in more than 100 service sectors. The agreement covers areas, the development of which is particularly relevant in the current conditions. The matter is about e-commerce, assistance to small and medium-sized businesses, protection of intellectual property rights and a number of others.
