MART to divide Vietnamese rice import quotas between importers for 2021

MINSK, 29 January (BelTA) - The Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus has approved the order of distributing tariff quotas for the import of certain types of long-grain rice in 2021. The corresponding decision is contained in Council of Ministers' Decree No.45 of 27 January 2021, which has been officially published on the National Legal Internet Portal on 29 January, BelTA has learned.

The Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade (MART) is set to distribute 70% of the tariff quota for imports of certain types of long-grain rice from Vietnam for 2021 among foreign trade participants by 10 February. The distribution will be proportional to their imported volumes in 2018-2020. The agency will also distribute 30% of the tariff quota on the basis of received applications from foreign trade participants.

The MART has also been instructed to redistribute the tariff quota unclaimed according to the results of the first half of the year on the basis of the applications from foreign trade participants.

Information on the distribution of the quota will be posted on the MART website. The ministry will be issuing relevant licenses, and is also set to send the information on the tariff quota allocation to to the State Customs Committee.

The State Customs Committee has been instructed to submit information on the imported volumes of long-grain rice subject to the tariff quota in natural and value terms in 2018-2020 to the MART by 1 February.

The resolution comes into force after its official publication.
