Manufacturing robotization to become more profitable in Belarus

MINSK, 8 March (BelTA) – Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus, and the Economy Ministry have described on the air of the Belarusian TV channel ONT what is being done in Belarus in order to encourage the manufacturing sector to use more robots, BelTA has learned.

Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Karanik noted that it is necessary to focus on efficiency in the course of introducing robots into manufacturing. “Classic robots with manipulators are definitely necessary in some places. In other places it is enough to automate the manufacturing process and fit the conveyor belt with additional tools. In some cases it is necessary to refit a batch-produced vehicle with human control in order to convert into an unmanned complex. It will allow reducing the development time and substantially reducing the costs,” he stressed.

A broad range of loans has been worked out for buying such “helpers” in Belarus. Up to Br100 million can be borrowed from the Development Bank for the sake of modernizing a manufacturing facility. “In some cases even up to Br200 million can be borrowed. The interest rate for such products is 6-7% per annum for a period of six years. The market interest rate for a period of 15 years is available after that. I can even say that the sum can be unlimited in this case,” noted Valentin Malin, Deputy Head of the Client Management Office at the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.

First Deputy Economy Minister Ivan Vezhnovets noted that legislative stimulation and the provision of preferences are used to introduce robots into manufacturing or to create robot production in the country. “The relevant legislation has been drafted by us. It is in the final reconcilement stage. As part of it we primarily provide preferences for taxing profits, for taxing the added value, and a number of novelties within the framework of the Hi-Tech Park,” he pointed out.
