MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Ulyanovsk Oblast and Belarus have an extensive cooperation agenda, Governor of Russia's Ulyanovsk Oblast Alexei Russkikh told reporters during the presentation of the Minsk exposition at the Belarusian pavilion at VDNKh in Moscow on 13 June, BelTA has learned.
The memorandum of understanding signed by Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev and Ulyanovsk Oblast Governor Alexei Russkikh is expected to give an additional impetus to cooperation between Ulyanovsk Oblast and Minsk.
“We have a very broad cooperation agenda with Belarus, especially with Minsk,” said Alexei Russkikh.
According to him, the parties exchange business missions and facilitate closer cooperation between industrial enterprises.
“This work is yielding very solid results. For example, Ulyanovsk is home to the largest manufacturer of Il-76 aircraft. We have brought together Belarusian aircraft repair plants and our aviation enterprises. Components are now being supplied, and this interaction will continue to expand,” the governor noted. Some large Belarusian businesses opened operations in our region. For example, the Polesie company started a project to make children's toys. Another production facility has launched the production of attachments for agricultural machinery. At the end of last year, the first radio electronics products were made. Minsk is home to such unique enterprises as Integral and Horizont. Mutual supplies are already underway, amounting to billions of Russian rubles annually. We cooperate in the humanitarian, cultural, and sports spheres.”
Minsk and Ulyanovsk are sister cities. “That’s why we have a special bond with Minsk,” Alexei Russkikh added.
The Belarusian capital will wrap up the marathon of Days of Belarusian Regions at the Russian Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy VDNKh. The exposition of Minsk will be running till 28 June. Visitors to the pavilion of the Republic of Belarus can study economic, industrial, cultural and tourist potential of Belarus’ capital city. On 13 June the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom ran a fashion show featuring items made by its enterprises, including merchandise of everyone’s favorite brand Pervy.
