Economist: 2026-2030 development program sets the bar high for Belarus

MINSK, 19 December (BelTA) – Director of the Institute of Economics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Denis Mukha assessed the targets of the 2026-2030 social and economic development program and commented on the document adopted at the meeting of the 7th Belarusian People’s Congress, BelTA has learned.
“The social and economic development program through 2030 is comprehensive in nature, and this is extremely important. Moreover, it is clearly structured: priorities are clearly identified, quantified, and each has specific areas and implementation mechanisms. In essence, it is understandable even to the average person: it’s straightforward, without complex terminology, as was also stated today. We clearly understand: what we will develop and by what means we are to achieve it,” Denis Mukha emphasized.

The director added that the program is flexible and interconnected. “There is no imbalance between the growth targets and the tools to achieve them. We are not simply putting a number in the ‘GDP’ column; we understand how it will be delivered. This is not some abstract number. Some might think that 3% growth per year is low. But under current conditions of intense international competition, pressure, and the constant need to reconfigure logistics, supply chains, and diversify markets, 3% is actually very ambitious,” the economist stated.
The expert added that the program has set the bar high. “Our common task is to do everything possible not just to reach this standard, but to elevate it further if possible,” Denis Mukha concluded.
