CIS agree on cooperation in power industry

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) - The CIS countries have agreed to develop cooperation in the electric power industry, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry.

The need was stressed at the 64th meeting of the CIS Electric Power Council to expand cooperation on information exchange and coordination in planning the development of the electric power industry in order to increase the competitiveness of national economies on the basis of efficient use of energy resources.

Special attention was paid to the issues related to industrial cooperation in traditional and new technological areas, scientific and technical cooperation in power machine building.

The meeting approved the report on the activities of the CIS Electric Power Council in 2023, the report on the activities of the Coordination Council under the CIS Electric Power Council in 2021-2023 and its work plan for 2024-2025. A draft memorandum of understanding was agreed upon between the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific and the CIS Electric Power Council.
