Chinese manufacturer of e-car charging equipment debuts at Belarusian commodity exchange

MINSK, 11 January (BelTA) - The Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE) registered the first deal to purchase components for electric car charging stations directly from a Chinese manufacturer, the BUCE press service told BelTA.

The deal was worth Br893,000, and the BUCE representative office in Shanghai helped to attract a supplier from China to the exchange auction.

“Currently, Belarus is actively developing electric transport, the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. This involves the purchase of relevant equipment, and China is the world leader in this field. Therefore, in order to assist Belarusian enterprises in organizing imports of charging stations and their components from China, a number of Chinese manufacturers were accredited to participate in the auction. One of them made a pilot transaction with the support of the BUCE representative office in Shanghai,” the press service said.

Strengthening cooperation with Chinese technology companies is part of the effort to develop the industrial and consumer section of the BUCE exchange trade between Belarus and China. Cooperation started in mid-2024 and is gradually gaining momentum. Thus, last year, the amount of exchange transactions to import equipment, spare parts and components from China reached $1 million.

As of 1 January 2025, 247 Chinese residents, including three brokers, were accredited at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. In 2024, the volume of transactions made by Chinese traders amounted to $133.3 million, which was 1.7 times more than in 2023. Belarusian-made timber products prevailed in the structure of trade accounting for 95%.

Founded in 2004, the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange conducted its first trading session in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest commodity exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its main function is to assist Belarusian enterprises with export and foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. BUCE sells a wide range of metal, forestry and agricultural products, industrial and consumer goods.
