BREST, 29 December (BelTA) – The Brest Oblast Executive Committee and the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies held a joint meeting on 29 December, BelTA has learned.
“Trade in goods shows strong positive dynamics, with a 15.4% increase over the first ten months [of 2025]. Food products, which constitute our primary export and represent a third of the national total, saw an even more significant expansion, with exports rising by 29% over the same period,” noted Brest Oblast Deputy Governor Mikhail Batsenko. In particular, Brest Oblast enterprises export dairy and meat products, fish and seafood, rapeseed oil, and other goods.
Brest Oblast’s economic reach now extends to 89 countries worldwide. The region has successfully entered 15 new markets in recent years. Its trade relations with Russia are particularly robust, with exports to the Russian market doubling over the past five years.
“The year 2025 marked significant progress in cooperation with distant arc countries, registering a 36% overall increase. Trade with our primary partner, the People’s Republic of China, expanded by 35% this year, representing an 80% cumulative growth over the past five-year period. Furthermore, deepening relations with Persian Gulf states resulted in a 140% rise in exports,” said Mikhail Batsenko.
The meeting was attended by Brest Oblast Governor Piotr Parkhomchik, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Legislation and State Administration of the Council of the Republic and President’s Authorized Representative in Brest Oblast Mikhail Rusy, Aide to the President – Inspector for Brest Oblast Aleksandr Lomsky, Chairman of the Brest Oblast Council of Deputies Igor Brilevich, members of parliament.
