MINSK, 24 August (BelTA) – A solemn ceremony to erect a commemorative sign to mark the foundation of the Belarusian-Chinese potassium nitrate factory took place near the industrial site of the fourth mine administration of the Belarusian fertilizer manufacturer OAO Belaruskali on 24 August, BelTA has learned.
The project will be implemented together with Migao Corporation, the leader of the Chinese market of specialized potassium-containing fertilizers.
Minsk Oblast Governor Anatoly Isachenko took part in the ceremony. In his opinion, the construction of the Belarusian-Chinese potassium nitrate factory is a major event for the region and the entire country.
In turn, Migao Corporation Chairman of the Board Liu Guocai stressed that the company was pleased to work with Belaruskali, a respected company, which employs highly qualified engineers.
The future factory will use Migao Corporation's technology to convert ammonium nitrate and potassium chloride in order to make the final product. Belaruskali's commercial-grade potassium and ammonium nitrate from third-party companies will be used as raw materials. The new factory will be able to make about 130,000 tonnes of commercial-grade crystal potassium nitrate per annum or 160,000 tonnes of agricultural potassium nitrate. The foreign target markets of the product include the European Union, Turkey, and Russia.
The manufacturing process' byproduct – ammonium chloride – will be converted into the compound NK fertilizer of the 17-0-17 variety. The entire volume will be shipped to China. The relevant long-term agreement has already been signed with Migao Corporation.
The project to build the potassium nitrate factory will allow creating over 180 jobs. The new enterprise's output in the world output will be at least 5%.
The construction of the potassium nitrate factory is supposed to be finished by late 2019.
