MINSK, 17 October (BelTA) - An assembly plant for Belarusian tractors will be established in Pakistan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Industry Ministry.

Belarusian First Deputy Industry Minister Andrei Konyushko held talks with a Pakistani delegation led by Ali Hassan Zehri, Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives of Pakistan's Balochistan.

Andrei Konyushko described the relations between the two countries as friendly and expressed readiness to scale up mutually beneficial cooperation. “As our president has previously noted, the vanguard of our cooperation should be specific economic projects in the most promising and sought-after areas,” the first deputy minister said. He stated that Belarus is always ready to assist its Pakistani partners, including in meeting their needs for high-quality and efficient tractor equipment.

Two documents were signed during the meeting: a memorandum of understanding between the Belarusian Industry Ministry and the Ministry for Agriculture and Cooperatives of Pakistan's Balochistan, and an agreement to establish an assembly plant for BELARUS tractors in Pakistan.

Andrei Konyushko noted that the establishment of the assembly plant is a testament to the high level of friendly relations, proof of deep mutual trust, and a demonstration of the aspiration to develop mutually beneficial cooperation. This project is expected to be a starting point for implementing the most ambitious joint projects.

Ali Hassan Zehri pointed out that the country's farmers are very familiar with BELARUS equipment and called the signing of the agreement to set up an assembly plant in Pakistan timely and relevant. “Eighty percent of our population is employed in agriculture. The use of Belarusian farm equipment will enable a significant expansion of work in this sector,” he said.

Andrei Konyushko also added that, besides tractors, Belarusian manufacturers are ready to offer a wide range of mounted and trailer equipment, as well as machinery for field operations. The experience of the Lidselmash and Bobruiskagromash holding companies, along with the quality of their products, allows Belarus to hold a leading position in the production of agricultural machinery and equipment.

The parties expressed confidence that the meeting will provide a fresh impetus for the development of Belarus-Pakistan relations and industrial cooperation.
