
MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) - Belarus and Uzbekistan are moving to strengthen their energy sector partnership, BelTA learned from the Embassy of Uzbekistan to Belarus.
The news follows a recent visit by Uzbekistan's nuclear energy agency Uzatom to the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant (BelNPP) site in Ostrovets, to inspect the facility and its supporting infrastructure.
Uzatom Director Azim Akhmedkhadjaev also met with Belarusian Energy Minister Denis Moroz. He emphasized that the agency's primary objective is to study best practices from leading nations and partner countries to effectively implement reforms in the energy sector. During the talks, the parties thoroughly discussed establishing mutually beneficial cooperation.
It was particularly noted that energy sector collaboration between the two countries continues to strengthen. Special attention was drawn to the rapid reforms and transformations occurring in Uzbekistan's energy industry and infrastructure systems. In this context, Belarus expressed readiness for mutual exchange of practical knowledge and technological expertise.
The parties agreed to fully utilize existing potential to enhance bilateral cooperation and to establish a working group that will develop a corresponding roadmap based on specific objectives.
