MINSK, 30 July (BelTA) – Belarus will supply 500 heads of pedigree cattle of Belarusian breeding to Georgia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry following negotiations between Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Natalya Shevtsova and representatives of a major Georgian agricultural holding.
Attending the meeting were also Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Georgia Nikolai Rogashchuk and heads of Belarusian agricultural enterprises.
The Georgian company, whose production facilities are located in Sartichala, Gardabani Municipality, specializes in table grape production, cattle breeding, and grain cultivation. At the initiative of the Belarusian Embassy in Georgia, last year an agreement was reached between this company and the Belplemzhivobyedinenie livestock farm to supply cattle.
“To date, 300 Aberdeen Angus heifers have already been delivered to Georgia. Under the current agreement, another 500 heads of pedigree cattle of Belarusian breeding are expected to be supplied by the end of this year,” the press service reported.
The Belarusian side reaffirmed its readiness to continue cooperation in the supply of pedigree cattle to improve the genetic and productive qualities of agricultural animals in Georgia. In turn, Georgian partners expressed interest in purchasing Belarusian seeds of grain, industrial, and forage crops.
Participants of the meeting highlighted the positive momentum in bilateral trade. In January-May 2025, trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between the two countries grew by 7.8% year-on-year, with a 9.8% increase in exports.
Belarusian exports to Georgia are primarily composed of dairy products (milk, cream, condensed milk, cheese, butter, cottage cheese, ice cream), meat products (beef, poultry by-products, sausages), grain, legumes, fish and seafood, bottled water and alcoholic beverages.
Belarusian processing enterprises are actively working to promote their products in the Georgian market, strengthening existing contracts and expanding ties with new partners.
